If you are an Approved Asylee (Granted Asylum) by the U.S. CIS, and you live in Akron, Cleveland, Youngstown or any other community in Northeast Ohio, contact the International Institute's Refugee Resettlement Department immediately and we may be able to help you get Money, Medicaid, Food Stamps and a job!

Secondary Migrant

A Secondary Migrant is a refugee who was originally resettled in another state but moved to Ohio after the initial resettlement. There could be many reasons for movement of refugees from one state to another state: job availability, close relatives, strong ethnic community, climate, health. The Resettlement Department and The International Institute help Secondary Migrants with orientation, health and benefits referrals, English as a Second Language, employment, interpreting and translation and immigration issues.
